OTT Release: Mechanic Rocky Starring Vishwak Sen Now Streaming
The action-thriller Mechanic Rocky, starring Vishwak Sen, has made its OTT debut, streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Friday. Without any prior announcement, the film was released on the platform just 20 days after its theatrical release on November 22. Available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, the movie’s sudden arrival has caught audiences by surprise.
Directed by Ravi Teja Mullapudi, Mechanic Rocky marks his debut in Tollywood. The film features Vishwak Sen in the lead role, with Meenakshi Chowdhury and Shraddha Srinath playing significant parts.
Notably, Shraddha Srinath’s role adds an intriguing layer to the narrative. Supporting roles are handled by Naresh, Sunil, and Hyper Aadi. Produced under the SRT banner by Ram Talluri, the movie performed moderately at the box office.
The plot centers on Rakesh, also known as Rocky (Vishwak Sen), who leaves his B.Tech studies and takes up work as a mechanic at his father’s RK Garages in Malakpet. The garage becomes the target of a local rowdy, Rankireddy (Sunil), who plans to take over the property. Rocky must arrange Rs 50 lakhs to save his family’s garage.
Amid this crisis, two women re-enter Rocky’s life—his college love, Priya (Meenakshi Chowdhury), and Maya (Shraddha Srinath), whose arrival stirs up further complications. The story unravels the mystery of Rocky’s estrangement from Priya, the identity of an unexpected nominee on an insurance policy, and Maya’s true intentions. How Rocky navigates these challenges while protecting his garage forms the crux of the film.
While Mechanic Rocky garnered attention for its engaging action sequences and emotional undertones, its overall box office performance was average. Earlier this year, Vishwak Sen delivered films like Gami, which succeeded, and Gangs of Godavari, which, like Mechanic Rocky, saw modest returns.
Looking ahead, Vishwak Sen is gearing up for the release of Laila and Funky, slated for next year. Rumors also suggest a special appearance in Balakrishna’s upcoming film, Daku Maharaj.
